Re: [LinP3] peso

Hi Glen,
I am doing what I would suspect others are doing with the artificialy high peso and the dollar being at at all time low. Cutting back on the extras like trips to differant resorts and eating out. Discovering ways to lower my electricity bill by using energy efficient bulbs and the fan more, aircon less and always turning off appliances when they are not in active use. Eating more of the cheaper native foods and less of the expensive imported "american food". Just a general belt tightening and hanging in there waiting for the economic storm to pass.

The other factor in play is the evat. 12% on everything we buy driving prices up. It affects all of us americans here, but the hardest hit are my cousins earning pesos. My 2 brother in laws earning dollars are now feeling the pain too.

The only ones benefitting from this high peso are the Philippine Government paying back billions in foreign loans and the rich Philippinos who travel to the U.S. Kinda makes you wonder why things are the way they are or is it part of a master plan by the same people who are in power ?

Whatever happens in this new year I will still be here. I made my decision a long time ago that moving here was a perminant decision.
I will remain "cautiously optomistic" that things will get better and deal with it if it doesn't.

I am a retired American, OPM-type,in Cdo City,Filipina wife, asking
how other Americans are coping with the peso. In the last year alone,
my income, if in pesoes, has decreased by 12k+ pesooes. I welcome your
thoughts.
