You are definitely correct about needing to know the RH factor.
FYI: Info that you might need. For Red Blood Cell Compatibility the
following applies: since you are asking for Type A (without giving the
RH factor).
If the person (needing blood) has "A-" blood they can use "A-" or
"O-". If they have 'A+' they can use "A-, A+, O-, or O+".
BTW: "O-" can be used on a recipient with ANY type blood; so you folks
with 'O-' type blood are valuable. - of course this assumes that you
have no other reason (illness, or medicines being taken) why you are
ineligible to give blood. :-)
P.S. If you are one of the rare people with AB+ blood; then you can
donate where ANY (ALL) type blood is needed.
