[LinP3] Re: New Years - Manila Style

Yes, the RP really knows how to celebrate Christmas and New Years. That brownout shut down the MRT for five hours. There was also several large fires in Metro Manila including one that destroyed 100 homes in Tondo Manila. News reports indicate over 300 injuries including loss of fingers, eyes, people hit by stray bullets. Pray for the newly homeless and those that suffered injuries from all the revelry.

Not all of Manila was so great as there was a major brownout from 11.45 pm to 4.00 am. Can you imagine no electricity just before the new year arrives.

Wow! Once again!

Those that have never experienced News Years here in Manila (or the whole festive holiday
season for that matter) ... are missing out! What a treat! This city virtually "EXPLODES". The
noise alone is deafening. There I was standing on the helipad of my condo tower (Ermita)
with a 360 degree view of all Metro Manila, just absolutely stunned, words cannot describe
(nor the video) the Filipino passion for celebration! A third world country? I think not! Haha!
The Philippines btw has been the host to two World Pyro Olympics! Both held at the
Esplanade here in the Mall of Asia! I have yet to experience New Years in the provinces, kinda
wonder?
