Re: [LinP3] Re: New Years - Manila Style

Jerry -
I love all the positive aspects of living in Metro Manila. You are welcome to search the archives of this group to see the beautiful description of life here and the wonderful people of the Philippines that I have posted over the past several years. What I described below is what was reported on ABS-CBN news programs. I disagree with your assertion that it is a daily occurrence for 100 homes to burn (just one of the seven large fires reported) and for that many people to become homeless every day. I disagree with your assertion that 300 people lose fingers and eyes every day in Metro Manila. I do agree, that the Filipinos know how to celebrate Christmas and put on a good show on New Years even though it was a bit tamer this year than the past several years,
Mike.

>Wow,

>Hmmm, you just described a " typical day here in Manila " (or any other major world city
for that matter)! Except this time no one was killed (there were 7 deaths reported last year)
thank God. While it is " simpleton " to do a google search on casualties, my focus is on the
positive aspects of living here and giving others a birds eye view of this wonderful country.
In a city the size of Metro Manila, there are bound to be a few who are out of control, and
my prayers do go out to those innocent bystanders ...however, my guess (and its just a
guess) ... there will be a similar celebration next year! :)

shut down the MRT for five hours. There was also several large fires in Metro Manila
including one that destroyed 100 homes in Tondo Manila. News reports indicate over 300
injuries including loss of fingers, eyes, people hit by stray bullets. Pray for the newly
homeless and those that suffered injuries from all the revelry.
