[LinP3] Re: Keeping your driver's license

Hi Guys

As I am living here and am getting a car I figured I wanted to be
covered in case of an accident so I decided to get a licence, so
I just went through this exercise last Thursday. Went to the local
LTO (Cebu City).

Knocked back all fixers, asked the guard how do I get a licence, he
called over some girl, who took me around the corner to the drug
testing lab (I first asked what the charge was and she was paid a
commission by the lab)

Paid P8 for copies of my drivers licence and passport
Cost for the drug test was P250, peed into the bottle and got the
right peice of paper 10 minutes later.
Then went 3 shops down paid P100 for a blood pressure check and an eye
test
Back to the LTO
wait in line for the customer relationship rep (boy what a misnomer
all they do is check to ensure you have all the correct papers)
you will need all the medical test paperwork plus your copies of the
overseas drivers licence and your passport
Sit down and wait some till you get called up to take your picture
(this is for their records)
wait in line some more till you get called up to the cashier
By this time it was lunch time 1200pm and everything shuts down for an
hour so you may as well go and get some lunch also
Elizabeth Mall and a Jollibee are just down the road
Come back about 1230 (yes its early but the place fills up real quick
again and you will miss out on a seat)
Called up by the cashier paid P305
and waited in line some more
called up to take another photo (this one for the licence)
wait some more and finally receive your licence
Total cost P673 Plus lunch
Total time just under 5 hours

So its easily doable if you have the patience

Good luck

Joe
