You had me confused a while. I'm in Valencia, 22 clicks west of DGTE
and Amlan's a far piece. We always think of that as north but that's
probably because of the "North Road".
There's a welding shop about 100 m from me selling 3" x 3" concrete
posts about 1.5 m long. If you're interested I'll ask the price.
Any handyman can make them for you. I had two of my guys make about
150 for me. They just get some coco lumber from any coco mill,
they're everywhere, and make enough forms for an even number of sacks
of cement. Put a piece of rebar down the middle, mix the concrete
anywhere using only a shovel, move it using a bucket. Then you wait
one day, remove the forms and do it again. In my case they made about
15 forms and it took two guys about two hours a day for 10 days. I'm
building three buildings so I can keep them busy with other things in
the mean time but if you can't or don't want to you can negotiate a
"per piece" price rather than a day rate. I pay Php150 per day for
that kind of work but that's for a long term employee. For short term
you might have to go up to 200 but if they ask for more than that keep
looking. It's amazing how much prices come down when word gets around
that "the kano knows how to say 'No!'"
For 4" by 4" by 2 m posts I used 10mm rebar. The locals usually use
smaller.
If you want them really pretty, they drape the mold with a few layers
of old newspaper which makes the surface smooth and rounds the corners
just a bit and makes it easier to get them out of the mold. Of course
they think you're crazy to want to spend extra time an money to make
fence posts "pretty".
Hope this helps.
