[LinP3] Re: Widower Moving to Phils from USA with 2 TEENAGE DAUGHTERS...good idea or no?

You're not alone, Ron. I for one think it would be a good learning
experience for the children without the schools even being
discussed. As for schools, there are some here that are on par with
US schools, one would just need to look at that aspect of it when
choosing a place to live. Silliman has many foreign students, and in
this area there are quite a few foreigners living here with children
they have brought from overseas. As for the language issue, young
people pick up languages very quickly, especially when surrounded by
it. We watched an 11 YO of a friend of ours go from a complete and
total Chicago kid to not being able to tell him from his Filipino
friends in just a few months. Foreign children are also very popular
with their schoolmates here, everyone wants to be their friend. I
think living abroad for at least a year, especially in a poor
country, should be part of everyone's education.

Just my opinion derived from observations
